The New Castle Chorale
The New Castle Chorale is the most advanced choral ensemble at NCHS. This upperclassmen choir is composed of 36 musicians who demonstrate advanced skills in vocal technique, sight-reading, and music theory. Students in Chorale annually study and perform a wide spectrum of choral music, experiencing every major period of music history. Chorale consistently participates and places well in ISSMA Organizational contests, regularly earning Gold Ratings in Class I. For the past decade, Chorale members have come to enjoy the challenge of studying difficult repertoire, including Faure's Requiem, Poulenc's Gloria, Mark Hayes' Te Deum, and John Rutter's Gloria. They also enjoy the camaraderie found with one another while working together towards the common goal of quality music-making. Chorale is under the direction of Mr. Doty.
